INTRODUCING

Floor Droppers
in Sandbox

Do whatever it takes to keep from falling as the floor disappears beneath your feet! Floor Droppers is a highly competitive multiplayer game that was developed for MetaveWorlds. The game features looped mechanics with a range of difficulties to choose from.

First stage – DEFINING THE GOALS

Floor Droppers brainstorming started in August 2023, shortly after the founder of MetaWorlds Shane got in touch with us. The concept that he had in mind was a “last person standing” with a top-down view. The entire game mechanic had to run by itself without particular triggers so it would have resulted in a frictionless experience for the players.

The 3 main elements regarding the development of Floor :

Droppers were:

A looped game: no need to activate any lever or other triggers to make it run.

Multi level: multiple difficulties was one of the highlight, so players could not just get bored in 1 main difficulty.

Easy and intuitive: so even Non The Sandbox players could play it

Second stage – Initial concept

The concept that we created, based on Shane’s idea was a 3 level structure:
Lobby: Space for people to spawn, engage with each other, choose the difficulty to play, buy NFT in the In-Game shop, advertisement spots and a spectator area.
Game Arenas: 4 main arenas with different difficulties.
Teleport: A big funnel that will make players slide into the teleport.

Third stage – Development

The development process with the creations of the main structure of the lobby, following all of the difficulties main assets. Since the main focus would have been on creating one difficulty at a time we built the Normal difficulty and then gradually moved to the other ones with a focus on finding a balance with all of the variables since the gameplay had to result gradually more difficult but not impossible at the same time. We concluded with a long period of testing as these mechanics were new due to the latest release of the software.

FINAL stage – Delivery

After weeks of development came the delivery which saw impressive results when live, loop functionality was integrated perfectly into the game experience having the players enjoy and having fun within the map. After the release a various number of partnerships where interested supporting the experience and out client expressed a lot of gratitude after the completion and the achievement of such results.
